Beth Reyes not only loves young people, but she is dedicated, energetic, and experienced. She is a recent graduate of the Florida Center for Theological Studies, where she received her Masters of Divinity degree. She also has a BA from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, and a Masters of Business Administration from Rice University in Houston, Texas. She has led both the youth ministry and children’s ministry programs at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Coral Gables, and has been an active Girl Scout leader both here in Miami and in Mexico City, where she and her family lived for five years. Beth is the mother of two children, one in high school, and one in college. She is bi-lingual and enjoys outdoor activities such as kayaking and camping.

Beth is already dreaming of ways to make our youth program relevant, meaningful, fun, and exciting for our kids. She looks forward to meeting with the parents and youth to hear about their ideas, dreams, and hopes for our already-vibrant youth ministry program.

Christian Education Classes on Sundays
Youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to attended classes in Christian formation. CGCC educational team uses lessons from the Seasons of Spirit curriculum. During the worship service, at the time of passing of the peace, both the younger children and youth leave the sanctuary through the pulpit doors to age specific classes. Pizza and Movie Nights for Middle School
Once a month, Friday evening is designed for grades 6-8. Youth are welcome to arrive as early as 6:30 pm stay until 10:00 pm. Cost: $10 (includes pizza, snacks, and drinks). High School Youth Group

Church Night-In
(Wednesday: Sept 8 – Nov 17, Dec 1-15, Jan 12 – Mar 9, Mar 23- May 18),
Dinner Time: At 5:30 pm, join your friends for dinner in Fellowship Hall.
Cantate Choir. The Cantate Choir for youth grades 6-12 practices in Moye Chapel from 6:15 pm until 6:55 pm. Performances during our worship service are planned for September 12, October 17, November 20, December 19, January 30, February 20, March 27, April 17, and May 15. Confirmation classes
Youth confirmation classes are available this year. Graduation of the confirmation class will be May 22. Youth in grade 8 and older may register and receive a schedule of confirmation activities by contacting Pastor Guillermo, guillermom@ucc-cgcc.org .

Our Whole Lives Workshops for both middle school and high school will be scheduled throughout the year. These workshops are based upon the UCC’s Our Whole Lives curriculum which presents teen sexuality and relationships topics, including self worth, responsibility, sexual health and justice and inclusiveness in the context of our congregations’ values and spirituality.

Outreach Projects
Outreach projects will be developed according to the interests of our youth. These will usually occur Saturday mornings or Sunday after church.

Regional Youth Events
Youth at CGCC will be participating in the following regional youth events. These events are designed for youth grade 6 through 12. Please mark your calendars in advance. Additional permission slips and medical forms will be required. Vero Beach – October 1 – 3; Walk on Water – January 14-16; Peace River – March 4-6

During the Summer of 2010, ten youth and two youth leaders from CGCC traveled to New Orleans for the Southeast Regional Youth Event. Our youth took part in vibrant worship services, heard powerful speakers share their faith journeys and passion for helping those in need, attended workshops on a range of social justice issues, and completed a service day at the historic Holt Cemetery (a pauper’s field in New Orleans). Our youth also had fellowship time with the 80+ Florida Conference youth as well as another 80 youth from Texas to Georgia. What an inspiring time this was for the youth of our church!
